BZDesign partnered with ibml to design the FUSiON series, earning a 2020 Good Design Award. We provided industrial design, UI enhancements, and marketing support, including a launch video. Our collaboration continues with ongoing design for new configurations of the FUSiON series.
OBJECTIVES
Our goal was to create a sleek, modern scanner that improved user interaction and ergonomics, while maintaining ibml's reputation for high-volume scanning performance.
OUTCOMES
The ibml FUSiON 7400 combines a modern design with enhanced functionality. The redesign improved paper feed controls, maintenance visibility, and ergonomic comfort, setting a new standard for user experience. Recognized with the 2020 Good Design Award, the FUSiON 7400 represents the most powerful and agile scanner in its class, with a design that supports long-term use and operational efficiency.
Industrial Design and Ergonomics
BZDesign led the industrial design process during the development, prioritizing ergonomics and user interaction. The scanner features an open scanning track with a continuous edge for operator comfort, redesigned paper feed controls for ease of use, and intuitive LED status indicators to streamline daily operations. The design also includes isolated airflow sections to improve dust management and equipment longevity.
Improved User Interaction
User interaction was at the forefront of our redesign. The updated controls, enhanced visibility for maintenance, and ergonomic improvements ensure operators can comfortably and efficiently manage the scanner, reducing the need for extensive training. An integrated footrest adds additional comfort for operators working long hours.

Marketing and Video Support
We collaborated with video production house, Big Slide Creative, to create a product launch video, highlighting the key features and innovations of the FUSiON 7400. The video showcased detailed 3D renderings and animations, helping to communicate the product's value and capabilities to potential customers.
UI/UX and Graphic Design
In addition to industrial design, our team supported ibml’s transition to a new brand language by updating the user interface with modern icons and a refreshed visual style. These enhancements improved the overall usability of the scanner, aligning with ibml’s updated brand aesthetic.
